At Magnetrol®, we strive to make sure that our business practices are not only innovative and customer-centric, but help to improve our communities as well. To that end, we put thought and effort towards environmental sustainability for our plants and facilities. We want to ensure that our buildings use space in a thoughtful and eco-friendly way, without putting a strain on the natural resources of their locations.
Recently, Magnetrol® International NV, in Zele, Belgium, received a BREEAM® Certificate for its production and office facilities, achieving a score of Very Good. BREEAM is the world's foremost environmental assessment method and rating system for buildings, with over 250,000 building certifications and over a million buildings registered for assessment since its inception in 1990.
MAGNETROL has had its regional headquarters for the Europe, Middle East, Africa and India (EMEAI) markets located in Zele for over 45 years. The BREEAM rated location includes production facilities and office space in a single industrial complex. The facility completed an expansion project between 2012 and 2014 that increased the footprint of the manufacturing complex by more than 5,000 square meters. It was awarded an interim design certificate from BREEAM for the expansion plan.
The completed production and office facilities were recently assessed to ensure compliance with BREEAM standards for health and wellbeing, water and energy usage, waste management, and other components of environmental stability. BREEAM determined that the facilities met the standards to be considered Very Good, and MAGNETROL received the final certificate. The Zele manufacturing complex is one of the first industrial buildings in Belgium with BREEAM certification. We’re grateful to BREEAM for recognizing the environmental sustainability of the Zele facility with this honor.
